Description
CRANE TO SET NEW CHIMNEYS, EAST SIDE OF THE WORKMAN HOUSE
Color: Brown
A color polaroid photograph before the resetting of reconstructed brick chimneys at the east side of the Workman House, 4 January 1978. The red-colored crane, including the main body of the vehicle and the lower part of the arm is at center with a man wearing a red-colored safety helmet standing at the front part of the vehicle. To the right, behind a chain-link fence topped with barbed wire is the house. The recently reconstructed east wall, consisting of cement block at the first level and relaid brick at the second, as well as reinstalled doors, windows and ground-level vents is seen with the dark-colored tarp covered roof for rain protection. The muddy ground is at the lower part of the image and, in the background, are two of the historic oak trees in the courtyard of the house. A pencil inscription at the bottom of the artifact reads "Crane Getting Ready For North / Chimney 1/4/78." With little indication of wear or damage, the object is in good condition.
