Description

Color: Brown; Green A square tile with a design of two birds, from the Critters series produced by RTK Studios, ca. 1990s. The piece, made by the black-line technique, has a mixed green and brown border with which are series of three leaves at the corners. In the center is a diamond-shaped panel created by two lines with the same color as the outer border, with a very dark background "underneath" the leaves, diamond-shaped border and the bird design within the diamond. These birds are brown with yellow feet, face each other so that their heads and beaks meet at the upper center and are standing on branches that form the diamond-shaped border. Another set of three leaves is at the lower center just below the birds. On the center reverse is a label with the studio's logo and phone number and the motto "Creating hand glazed / art tile using Old / World techniques and / our own exclusive / glaze formulas with / original and historic / designs." There are felt feet at the corners, as well. This tile, like that of the bird in item 3.5, has a Craftsman-style look to it and is in good condition, with no evidence of wear or damage.
