Description

Color: Black; Gold; Orange "Custom-Built Floors of Cork," a catalog published by the Armstrong Cork Company, 1928 and printed by J. Horace McFarland. The softcover 48-page artifact has a checkerboard pattern on the front, with a bordered design on an orange background at the upper center, within which is the title. Three orange shields are at various places on the checkerboard. The checkerboard pattern and three shields are also on the back. After the title page is an introduction to cork flooring offered by the company and the product's virtues, including a solid feel and lifetime durability. the Linotile brand name is further described with many black and white photographs and a few color renderings of house interiors accompanying the text. On page 15 is text on the laying of the product, followed by information on care and decorating help by a company decorator. Sizes and color samples follow from page 18 and include examples of solid colors, marble-like tiles, and those with checkerboard and other geometric patterns. From page 41 is more informative text on the flooring, followed by a cork tile that looks more like cork and less like tile with a few pattern examples and a size listing. On the inside front cover is a list of brand names. In good condition, the artifact appears to have rarely been used or handled with only slight cover edge wear and a crease or two on some pages.
