A letter from D. Desmond to J. C. Menssdorfer & Bro. 10 December 1876. The item, which is on lined paper with an embossed scroll at the top left reading "GOLDEN GATE," is an order for three silk hats to be added to a previous order. It was contained in item 4.1, an envelope. Desmond was a clothes merchant in Los Angeles and the company remained in business well past the 1920s. With three original folds and some light stains from handling, the item is in good condition.
