A dance card for a benefit ball at Illinois Hall, Los Angeles, undated, but circa 1890s. The event was held by a lodge of the Independent Order of Foresters and the card has lodge name, location, and date of 24 May, though no year, oln the front, a list of the floor manager and aides for the event on the back, and a list of fifteen dances with lines next to each to fill in the name of the dance partner. There is also a portion of the string, to which the pencil was attached, is tied around a single hole punched at the top left. With edge wear, soiling, many pencil marks, and a few stains, the condition is fair.Lexicon
