Description

Color: Green; Red; White "Home Gardening for School Children," issued by John Lewis Childs, Inc., 1920. The booklet has the title across the top and has a drawing of four stemmed red roses in the center, with the words, "NEW ROSE / BABY DOLL / 159," on the right. On the opposite side is, "Superior Seeds / Bulbs, Plants and / Berries at Nominal / Prices / For School Children / Only / Orders Must in / Every case come / through a teacher." The company name is on the bottom right corner. On the back is a multi-colored drawing of gladiolas. A foreword and a note to teachers are at the beginning of the catalog which provides the sale of seeds for many species of flowers; vegetables; bulbs; house plants; garden plants; and berries, specifically for children and their education in home gardening. Instructions for creating a garden, order form, a letter to school children, and letters from patrons are included at the back. Many color and black and white illustrations are found throughout. With only light creases on the cover and some surface soiling, the booklet is in good condition.
