Book: "Decorum: A Practical Treatise On Etiquette And Dress" by John A. Ruth, revised by S.L. Louis (New York: Union Publishing House, 1882). Brown hardcover with an illustration of the seaside and palm trees on the cover in black. Title is printed on the front cover and spine in black inside a gold stripe. Front cover also has an illustration of a child in the upper right corner in gold. The text of 414 pages includes a table of contents; a 9 page list of "Flowers and Their Sentiments"; and 12 pages of "Toilette Recipes". Subjects include entrance into society; manners; courtship and marriage; and public and domestic etiquette. Abrasions on both covers at spine. Front and back endpapers are torn at spine. Physical condition of paper and overall appearance is good. Visits/4/24/99 [on front flyleaf in ink].
