A label for a box of Del Monte brand brown pure cane sugar, ca. 1920s. Made for the California Packing Corporation, the label has a green background generally, though there are white areas on the top and bottom, where the label would be folded at the ends of the box and at right where the label would be glued together. At top and bottom are the brand logo in a gold-bordered shield with red field and the words "DEL-MONTE / BRAND / QUALITY" in white letters in two places. The word "BROWN / CANE SUGAR" in white block letters is also in two places. Between two thin gold lines are the following: at left, a black bordered box with a green field containing information on other Del Monte products, as well as the company name and location; to left of center the brand logo, as described above, with the product name below in white letters and the product weight in green letters; at right of center another green box with the same list of other Del Monte products and company name and location; and, at right, a repeat of the logo, product name, and product weight. Aside from light discoloration, there are no indications of wear or damage and the artifact is in good condition.Lexicon
