Description

DELINQUENT TAX RECEIPT TO WALTER P. TEMPLE, 25 JUNE 1902 Color: White A delinquent tax receipt issued by the Los Angeles County Tax Collector to Walter P. Temple, 25 June 1902. On a standard form, the receipt has a title at the top; and text indicating receipt of a standard $4.00 penalty from the assesed property holder, as well as the assessor's book and page number where the transaction is recorded. Lines at the bottom right are for the signature of the collector and deputy. Here a stamp indicated the name and date of the tax collector, John H. Gish, with the initials of the deputy. Also noted is a cost of fifty cents, presumably for processing. With pin holes (a straight pin used to affix this document to others in the collection was removed); creases, especially at the right and at the lower left corner; and some discoloration, the receipt is in fair condition.
