The item, which is missing the county ticket, which was cut from the bottom of the document, has the title at the top, along with the election date of September 2, 1863. Below are the candidates for statewide office, including John G. Downey of Los Angeles, who served as Governor from 1860 after assuming the office by being Lieutenant Governor when the Governor, Milton Latham, was elected to the U. S. Senate. Candidates for other state offices, as well as for Congress are listed, along with their county of representation. At the bottom, above the cut line, is part of the county ticket title. At the reverse is part of the banner, in which is the name of Del Norte County. On the front right margin is the nummber "35" and the name "Thomas White" in pen and the same number and White's last name in pencil, indicating a voting number and name of voter. With creases, soiling, yellowing, folds, and stains, the overall condition is fair.
