Description

DEPOSIT BOOK, THOMAS W. TEMPLE II, BANK OF ITALY, 1924-1926 Color: Brown; Black A bankbook of Thomas W. Temple II from Bank of Italy, later Bank of America, Santa Clara, California, 1924-1926. The artifact may have a leather or substitute leather cover. At the top of the front is the stamped number "42." At the center is "DEPOSITED WITH / Bank of Italy / AT / SANTA CLARA BRANCH / SANTA CLARA, CALIF / FOR CREDIT OF . . ." and a space for Temple to write his name. At the bottom is "HEAD OFFICE, SAN FRANCISCO / COMMERCIAL DEPARTMENT." On two inside pages are a list of deposits made by Temple from 3 September 1924 to 6 May 1926, shortly before he graduated from the University of Santa Clara and, therefore, closed the account. Either handwritten or stamped dates, initials of the teller, and the dollar amount of the deposit are given. The branch name and Temple's name are at the top of these pages. With abrasions, rubbing, wear on the corners and edges, some fading of the lettering, especially Temple's name on the front cover, and surface soiling, the overall condition is fair.
