"DESCRIPTIVE CATALOG OF KODASCOPE LIBRARY MOTION PICTURES"
Color: Black; Green
"Descriptive Catalogue of Kodascope Library Motion Pictures," second edition, 1926. The 173-page artifact has a green paper cover with the title at the upper center of the front, a floral design below, and the words "Second Edition" at the bottom. On the back cover within a box is a listing of where information can be found in the catalog. The title page lists locations of the several libraries in the United States, including Los Angeles, and the three foreign cities with libraries. The foreword explains the conditions entailed in ordering the films listed for rental. An interesting feature of ordering by telegraph is the explanation of a shorthand code used to expedite orders. Pages 8-9 include a list of actors and actresses featured in Kodascope offerings. The following page delineates 8 instructions for the improvement of service. An index to titles is next divided into several classes, including: travel, sports, manners and customs; industry, forestry and agriculture; popular science, useful arts, and natural history; comedies and juvenile; reconstructed and modern history; animated cartoon comedies; and dramas. Page 17 begins the listing, which includes a reel number; a code; the title; the producer; a description; the length in standard length film feet; and the rental price. At the back is an order form for a subscription service for six months; two order forms for regular service; and an explanation and application for the service. Other than a few creases on some pages and the cover, there is little evidence of wear or damage and the artifact is in good condition.Lexicon
