Description

DETAIL OF AREA ABOVE FRONT DOOR OF THE WORKMAN HOUSE Color: Brown; White A color polaroid photograph of the area over the front door of the Workman House, 4 October 1978. At lower right is the panel over the door with its raised wood designs. The section appears to be unrestored, however. Above and to the right of this is the original "granite block" plaster work, gouged in preparation for replastering, though a small section of white plaster next to the door frame remains. Above the plasterwork is the dark brown wood header at the top of the adobe wall. At the top is lath from the ceiling, after the modern plaster there was stripped from it. Metal wire is over the lath, as well. On the reverse is the ink inscription "Workman Residence / detail north wall / at main door showing / orig. uncovered plaster / wall and stripped wood / lath ceiling. / photo by archt 10-4-78." At the left side is the word "Workman" written in ink." Beneath the main inscription is a stamp for restoration architect Raymond Girvigian with his name, address, and telephone number, covered by a piece of tape. There is little indication of wear or damage and the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
