DETAIL OF FAMILY CREST, LA CASA NUEVA FRONT BALCONY
Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph of a detail of the Temple family crest from the second-floor balcony at the front of La Casa Nueva, ca. February 1979. The crest is shown completely denuded of paint from exposure to weather and pollution. The shield is at the bottom, surmounted by a crown, atop which is a bird. A portion of the metalwork to which the cest is attached is at left, right, and bottom. A scale indicator is at the left, as well. The crest was completely restored and repainted as part of the restoration process. On the top of the reverse is a black ink inscription by restoration architect Raymond Girvigian reading "TEMPLE MANSION / NORTH ENTRY PORCH / HERALD AT 2ND FL BALCONY (PRIOR TO RESTORATION) / taken by Jeff Tyler*, ca. Feb. 1979 / Ray Girvigian, FAIA PHOTO SERIES / R-9 #10 / *JBT PHOTO SERVICE / NOW C/O LEYVA ORNAM. STAFF STUDIOS / ALHAMBRA / 213/289-4364." Below this is the stamp of Girvigian, with his name, address and telephone number. With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition.
