Description

DETAIL OF MISSION WALKWAY, EAST SIDE, SOUTH END Color: Brown A color polaroid photograph of a detail at the south end of the east side of the Mission Walkway, ca. 1977. The focus appears to be a point where a piece of wood is nailed to the supports of the arbor. The location is near one of the support columns on the inside of the arbor--the column being at the lower center part of the image. Several pieces of support, including thicker rafters at the top of the column and thinner boards supporting the grape vine. There are, however, some gaps where portions of the thin boards are missing. The absence of much vegetation on the vines suggests a late winter date for the photograph. In the background, vague portions of La Casa Nueva are visible through the arbor and a trunk of a tree at lower left may be the large palm at the southeastern corner of the home. This suggests that the portion of the arbor pictured is at the southern end of the east side of the walkway. With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition.
