Description

DETAIL OF SECOND-FLOOR BALCONY DECORATION, LA CASA NUEVA Color: Brown A color reprint of a polaroid photograph of a detail of the cast-iron balcony grille from the second-floor front of La Casa Nueva, ca. June 1977. The grille was removed and taken down and laid, with a thin piece of wood as a barrier, on the walkway in front of the house, where the circular planter is between the home and the entrance gate. The detail shown was the Temple family coat-of-arms, which was badly eroded and damaged from exposure to pollution and the elements. The grille was badly rusted overall and was no doubt photographed in preparation for restoration work. Aside from the planter, which had a few shrubs in it, there are no other notable features to the image. On the reverse in ink is the inscription "Temple Mansion / detail of family crest / at north balcony / prior to restoration / photo Jeff Tyler, / R-6 #10 ca. 6/78." Under this at lower right is a stamp for restoration Raymond Girvigian with his address and telephone number, covered by a piece of pressure sensitive tape. With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
