Color: Brown
"Development of Underground Waters in the Western Coastal Plain Region of Southern California," by Walter C. Mendenhall (Washington, D. C.: Government Printing Office,) 1905. The 105-page softcover book has an orange cover, on the front of which is the title, author's name, location and date of publication, names of the U. S. Geological Survey and its director, the name of the Interior Department, and the names of the two series based on water supply and irrigation and ungerground waters. After a government letter of transmittal and introduction, the contents include material on the coastal plain; soils and crops; the water supply, underground water sources, distribution, and permanence; a description of maps and tables; acknowledgements; well data; and an index. At the back is a listing of other publications in the series and cataloging information. Five plates, stored in an envelope mounted onto the inside of the back cover, were removed and cataloged as items 1.2-.6. With cover creases; dented corners; some cover soiling; slightly yellowed pages; cover folds; losses to the bottom of the spine; minor moisture damage; light front cover scratches; stains to the top right corner of page 15 and other small ones throughout; and tears to the spine and cover edges, the overall condition is good.Lexicon
