DINNER FOR WILLIAM H. WORKMAN'S 50TH ANNIVERSARY IN LOS ANGELES, 1904
Color: Black; White
A reproduced black and white photograph of a dinner for William H. Workman's fiftieth anniversary in Los Angeles, 1904. The location is unidentified, but is a large hall, decorated with American flags, bunting, and plant festoons. In the background is a small stage, in front of which is the head table. The celebrants at this table are standing and a white-bearded man at the center is likely Workman, nephew of William Workman. The woman to his right is probably Maria Boyle Workman, his wife. There are at least seven rows of tables, covered with white cloths and with settings and centerpiece decorations. Not all of the seats are filled, but there were a few hundred persons in attendance. Workman arrived in the city with his parents and two brothers in 1854 and an address he gave to a historical organization recounted his memories of crossing the plains. As a newly reproduced photograph, the object is in mint condition.
