Description

DIRECTIONS CARD FOR POLLY'S ELECTRIC CHRISTMAS LIGHT CLAMP COUPLER Color: Brown; Green A directions card for coupling strings of Polly's Super Safe electric Christmas lights, ca. 1920s. The card has a snowflake-like border with an image of two sockets coupled together to join two strings of lights. Above are the words "POLLY'S / THE CLAMP COUPLER / FOR MULTIPLE SET." below are two five-lamp strings laid out side-by-side showing how they would be laid out before joining. At the bottom are the instructions for joining the strings including the use of a tie-clamp. Because there are two pairs of punched holes above and below the image of the coupled sockets above the instructions, it is assumed the tie-clamp came affixed to these holes and was removed to join two strings. There are two holes in the sockets of light string 2.1 where these clamps would be placed. At the bottom of the instructions is the name of manufacturer Leo Pollock Corporation. On the center of the reverse is a logo with a wreath and bow, within which is the product name and the motto "FOR CHRISTMAS CHEER" at the top. Other than some discoloration and dogeared corners, the card is in good condition.
