Description
DOROTHY NERSESIAN RESTORING PLASTER WORK ON LA CASA NUEVA FRONT PORCH
Color: Brown
A color polaroid photograph of Dorothy Nersesian restoring decorative plaster work at the front porch of La Casa Nueva, 7 September 1979. Nersesian sits at left on a low stool and has a cloth or similar material in her left hand, while her right hand is applying some tool or object to the plasterwork at center. This area is the west side of the entrance and features a grape vine with three large leaves and a cluster of grapes. The plaster does not appear to be newly painted, so it seems that Nersesian is cleaning the area in preparation for painting. At her feet is a painter's cloth on the steps; a box of paint in jars and a container, perhaps of paint thinner. In the background, though difficult to see, is part of the porch, including a portion of the Thomas Temple window and a french door to the Music Room. At the bottom of the artifact is a pencil inscription reading "Dorthy [sic] - D.N. Graphics Doing / Art Work at Porch Rail 9/7/." At the margin is the pencil inscription "8x8," referring to image 99.5.14.291. On the reverse bottom in red ink is the inscription "Bill K" referring to Bill Kalnoski, restoration foreman, who may have been the photographer. With little indication of wear or damage, the object is in good condition.
