Description

DRAFT DEED CONCERNING ALCATRAZ ISLAND, 1 NOVEMBER 1902 Color: Black; White A draft deed concerning Alcatraz Island, 1 November 1902. The item, typed on thin legal stationery, is for the conveyance of a one-third interest in any funds due from a claim on the island from John H. and Anita D. Temple to Edmund Burke. The amount was to be in payment for services rendered by Burke in the bringing of a suit for the claim within a twenty-one month period. It is also noted that the Temples would agree to sell the island to the United States government for the price and terms agreed upon by other co-owners. The unsigned document, which was a revision of one from 18 October 1902 giving Burke a one-quarter interest, is typed, except for the insertion of Mrs. Temple's middle initial, which was written in ink. With heavy creasing, some light browning, and quarter folds, the overall condition is fair.
