Description

"DRAFT DELAY BRINGS CRISIS", LOS ANGELES TIMES (?), 8 NOVEMBER 1942 Color: Black, white "Draft Delay Brings Crisis", probably from the Los Angeles Times, 8 November 1942. The article concerns the delay of a bill to call teenage men to the draft, causing the induction of 200,000 married men instead. There is also a discussion of the need for 3.2 million men to be drafted by the end of 1943 in order to reach the goal of 7.5 million soldiers. This article, clipped by Thomas W. Temple II, was part of his attempt to volunteer in an intelligence capacity for the army. See also items .3-.4 as well as 96.34 and the research archives folder on Temple for more on this. With folds in quarters; a large tear just below the center of the article; creases along the folds and from a paper clip at the top left; and discoloration, this article is in fair condition.
