Description

"Earthquakes and Earthquake Insurance in California," by Allan E. Sedgwick, July 1928. Sedgwick, a consulting geologist and professor of Geology at the University of Southern California, writes about the state's geology, causes of earthquakes, fault locations, early accounts of sesimic activity since 1769, the question about earthquake insurance and his suggestions for an equitable way to establish rates. There is a chronological record of earthquakes in the state, a chart of earthquake measuring scales, comparative insurance rates, five plates of faults and a separate map, item .2, was found tipped in. With the front cover separated and the covers very worn, but pages generally clean, the overall condition is poor.
