Description

Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of the east side of the Mission Walkway from the south side, 1940. The photographer stood under the arbor of the south side (note the column and beam end at right, looking past the flagstone walkway (marked by the boxwood hedges at the lower area) and toward the northeast. Just beyond the flagstone walkway and hedge are a variety of flowering plants, bushes, shrubs, and the base of the historic San Gabriel palm tree. Behind this is the east walkway with some of the adobe columns and part of the main wall visible. Wood elements for the arbor with a few grape vines climbing over the wall from the east side of the main wall are fairly visible. Behind the main wall are some palm and other trees planted along the center driveway and near the Workman House. On the reverse upper right corner is the pencil inscription "67% / 2A / Terri," while at lower left is the black pen inscription "+14 - 160 / 29- 190." These, evidently, are instructions for reproduction. With little indication of wear or damage, the object is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
