Description
EDITH TEMPLE STANTON AT FRONT PORCH OF THE WORKMAN HOUSE
Color: Blue; Brown; Green; Yellow
A black and white reproduction photograph of Edith Temple Stanton at the front porch of the Workman House, ca. 1966. Mrs. Stanton, wearing a blue knee-length dress and carrying a black purse in her left hand, stands next to the stairs. Part of the porch is visible with ivy climbing the walls and through the arches can be seen the front door and parts of two windows. To the right of Mrs. Stanton on the porch is some type of wood enclosure. Next to and over her, supported on brown wood supports is the Lady Banks rose bush that, heavily trimmed, is at the front of the house today. On the reverse top in blue ink is "Edith Stanton / standing beside / The Workman House", probably in the hand of Loretta Berner, donor of the image. Mrs. Stanton, the daughter of John H. and Anita Davoust Temple, lived in the house during the 1890s as a girl. In the 1960s, the home was owned by the Brown family and used for offices. With little indication of damage or wear, the artifact is in good condition.
