EL CAMPO SANTO CEMETERY FROM SOUTHEAST, CA. 1907
Color: Black and white
A black and white reproduction photograph of El Campo Santo cemetery from the southeast, ca. 1907. The cemetery, in the foreground, is shown in a state of destruction with portions of the southern wall seen at left; rubble from the east wall; and the west wall the only part of the enclosure left intact. Also intact is the cast-iron fenced plot with the John Rowland tombstone barely visible. In the background at left is the Workman House, behind a windmill and, perhaps, a hay barn. To the left is the Water Tower. The image was used by Walter Temple in a lawsuit against L. F. Lewis, seeking to halt the latter's destruction of the cemetery. Being a new print, the image is in mint condition.
