Description

EL CAMPO SANTO CEMETERY WEST ELEVATION FROM HEART-SHAPED PLANTER Color: Black; White A negative of the west elevation of El Campo Santo Cemetery, ca. 1921. The view is from within the heart-shaped planter, which seems to have been completed and includes the sentinel palm tree at the east end. Behind the palm is the original brick wall and, at the center is the closed cast-iron entrance gate. Behind the gate is much of the Walter P. Temple Memorial Mausoleum, which appears to be completed, hence the estimated date. A few palm trees are visible behind the mausoleum and around the cemetery. In the distance at left is Puente Hill (P-Hill), now the Industry Hills area. This is a slightly different location, but almost unnoticeable, from item 50.114. Aside from darkened top and bottom edges, which don't affect the image, there are no visible signs of wear or damage and the condition is good. Number-Units: 1
