Description

Color: Brown A color polaroid photograph, formerly a duplicate number 741, of the reconstruction of the El Campo Santo east wall, ca. 1979. Two workers are at different sections of the wall--one at center is laying bricks on the crown of the wall and holds a tool in his right hand. Another is further to the south standing near the wall and appears to be reaching for a brick. A third man stands away from the wall and near the second man, apparently an observer. Pallets of brick are at several places a few feet away from the wall, while portable tables are also set up at intervals near the wall as part of the laying process. In the foreground left is a 55-gallon drum container, while against the northeast corner of the wall are two planks of wood. Some of the arbor vitae, bushes, and two gravestones are visible inside the cemetery. An inscription at the bottom of the object in pencil reads "North East Corner Cemetery / Wall. Taylor & Bob Masons." On the bottom of the reverse is an inscription in red ink reading "Bill K." referring to construction foreman Bill Kalnoski. With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
