A black and white reproduction photograph of the desecrated El Campo cemetery, ca. 1906. This is a copy photo of an original snapshot with a dark-colored background for the copy work visible all around the original. In near ruins, the cemetery is seen from the field to the northwest. Rubble and stacked bricks from the removal of the original perimeter wall are visible at the center, while a portion of the remaining original west wall is seen at the extreme right. Left of center is much of the original cast-iron burial plot fence, with the tall white spire of the John Rowland grave quite discernible. At left near a tree denuded of leaves may be a small white grave marker, but little else about the site is notable. In the background are trees near San Jose Creek and, behind that, the outline of the top of the Puente Hills. On the reverse, in black ink, is the inscription: "WORKMAN FAMILY CEMETERY / -vw. after demolition began / -ca. 1900 / -copy from a print in Walter Temple, Jr's collection / -copy negative on file w/architect." Under this is the stamp of Homestead restoration architect Raymond Girvigian and a date stamp reading "NOV 14 1981." A piece of adhesive tape covers this last stamp, but there is little indication of wear or damage to the piece, which is in good condition.
