Description

Elks Parade on Broadway, Los Angeles, 1909. The view shows a marching band moving down the street with spectators observing from the sidewalks lining the streets, a grandstand set up at the intersection of a crossstreet, and from fire escapes, windows, and roofs of nearby commercial buildings. There are also large and small columns erected for the occasion on the side of Broadway with clocks and Elks insignias and flags. There are also American flags and bunting in several areas. On the reverse is a pencil inscription "Elks parade on / Broadway." In fair condition, the photo has creases, siling, dogeared corners, and significant tears and losses at the upper corners, intruding onto portions of the image.
