Description

Color: Blue; Green; Red An empty box that once contained Dennison's Gummed Labels, ca. 1920s. The box consists of two parts, a one-piece outer shell and an open tray that slides within the shell and held the labels. On the top of the shell is part of one of the labels, which is an half-inch tall and 1 1/2 inches wide, though it was torn and probably was 2" wide originally. It has a red border and white inner field, on which, in the center, is "125 / Dennison's / No. 261," this latter number being the item model number. On one of the side panels is the company name and the product name, while another panel has the company name, a motto reading "THE TAG MAKERS" and the company's city of business. The bottom of the shell has a blue border with, in blue ink, the words "ALWAYS SEAL / VALUABLE PACKAGES / WITH / Dennisons SEALING WAX / 'THE POLICEMAN OF THE PACKAGE'" With abrasions, an ink mark from a pen, a small tear on one edge and creases to the outer shell, the box is in fair condition.
