Description

ENGAGEMENT PORTRAIT OF THOMAS AND GABRIELA QUIROZ TEMPLE Color: Black; White A reproduction photograph of the engagement studio portrait of Thomas Temple and Gabriela Quiroz, 1934. Gabriela stands at the left in a long short-sleeved gown with a small train and much dembroidered detailing. She wears her hair pulled up and has drop earrings. She holds a bopok in both hands and rests them on a plant stand or curio table, on which is a vase with flowers atop a light-colored floral-patterned Mexican shawl. Her body is turned toward the table, but her head faces the camera. Thomas is seated and wears part of or all of a Nineteenth-century suit, including a light-colored cravat, patterned vest, striped trousers, dark-colored jacket, and light-colored dress shirt and handkerchief, the latter in his coat pocket. Temple holds one hand at his left lapel and the other rests on his right leg. There appears to be some kind of scenery on the background screen, but it is hard to discern. Although the couple were engaged in 1934, their marriage did not take place until November 19, 1938. As a newly-created artifact, the item is in mint condition. Number-Units: 1
