Description

"Entrance of the Tejon Pass, And a Portion of the Tejon," by Charles Koppel and lithographed by T. Sinclair of Philadelphia, 1855. The item, done as plate 6 for a volume of the United States Pacific Railroad Exploration and Surveys, shows a flat plain surrounded by mountains and hills with stands of trees at center. There are two horseback ridfers in that area, as well, while in the foreground are what appear to be a woman and three men in Mexican costume and with bows and a vessel, perhaps indicating they were Tejon Sinks reservation Indians. With significant creasing and soiling and small edge tears, the condition is fair.
