Description
EXISTING GRADE, NORTHEAST CORNER OF EL CAMPO SANTO
Color: Blue; Red
A color polaroid photograph of the existing grade at the northeast corner of El Campo Santo, ca. 1977. The focus, at center, of the image is a metal pole inserted into the ground at the corner of the cemetery. Written in ink at the bottom of the pole is the number "19.00" and an arrow pointing toward the ground. In the foreground is a trench, presumably in preparation for the recreation of the brick wall around the grounds. At center and right is the existing sidewalk as it heads south towards the southeast corner. At the upper right background are some of the arbor vitae in the cemetery. An ink inscription at the bottom edge of the object reads "Cemetery site - Existing grades / Assumed 1900." The number, though, does not appear to signify a year, but has some other meaning. With no evident wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition.
