Description

Color: Black; White A copy of a black and white photoengraving with two duplicates of F. P. F. Temple, ca. 1870. Temple is shown in a head-and-torso view, wearing a dark suit jacket and vest; white shirt; and dark tie or cravat. He also has a chain or similar item crossing his shirt, which appears to be part of his costume. The clean-shaven Temple has flecks of gray in his dark hair and noticeable lines under his eyes. The engraving process is especially noticeable on the suit and the lines created from the process. This image of Temple appeared in John Steven McGroarty's 1921 history of the southern California area. On the reverse of two copies is, in black ink by a former museum curator, the inscription "F. P. F. Temple / Source - Workman and Temple Homestead / (gift of [donor's name withheld])." The third copy has the numbers "2001" and "29" at the top right corner. With little indication of wear or damage, the object is in good condition. Number-Units: 3
