Color: Black; White
A reproduction black and white photograph of F. P. F. Temple II, in a studio portrait from 9 February 1888. Shown as an infant, Temple is seated in a chair and may have been sitting on an animal skin rug. There may be some drapery or a piece of furniture in the background, as well. The baby wore a long white dress with pierced embroidery work at the hem, indicating that the image may have been taken for a baptism or christening. At the bottom is part of the border of the original cabinet card, showing the name and location of the photgrapher, F. G. Schumacher. On the back of the original image was an inscription to the child's uncle Francis W. Temple, giving also the date and time of the infant's birth and the date of the photograph. See item .4 for an image from the same photo session--the only differences being that this image is slightly closer to the photographer and that the baby looks a different direction and has the right arm raised as if in greeting someone (a parent?) calling to the child. As a newly manufactured copy, the artifact is in mint condition.
