Description

Color: Black; White A black and white reproduction photograph of an engraving of F. P. F. Temple, ca. 1870. The portrait shows Temple in an upper torso view, wearing a dark three-piece suit, white shirt and dark-colored tie or cravat. A chain of some kind extends across his chest, though it cannot be discerned what it was attached to. The background is a plain gray area and the engraving process is noticeable on this background and the clothes. The engraving was produced for the 1921 history of Los Angeles, "From the Mountains to the Sea" by John Steven McGroarty. On the upper left of the reverse, in black ink by a former museum curator, is the inscription "F. P. F. Temple / Source - Workman and Temple Homestead / (gift of Gabriella [sic] Temple Sutter.)" Aside from some minor stains on the reverse, the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
