Description

"FAMOUS RECIPES FOR BAKER'S CHOCOLATE AND BREAKFAST COCOA" Color: Black; Brown; Blue; Red; White "Famous Recipes for Baker's Chocolate and Breakfast Cocoa," published by Walter Baker and Company, Inc., 1928. The 64-page artifact consists of the front (part a) and back covers (b), as well as the main body (c) which have all become separated. The front and back have the title at the top, a color image of an 18th-century woman with a cup of cocoa on a tray, the establishment date of 1780 for the publisher, and that firm's name and location at the bottom. The body includes a title page; a description of chocolate and cocoa; a section on use of the recipes; a segment on well-known cooks who made the recipes; and a listing of recipes, starting with beverages. Other areas include chocolate cakes, eclairs, and cookies; icings, fillings, and sauces; chocolate desserts; and home-made candies. An index is at the back and there are several color illustrations of recipe items and some company product packaging. With the cover separation, creases; much soiling; page browning; foxing; a missing piece 1" x 1/2" at the left edge of the front cover; stains; and cover tears, the condition is poor.
