Description

Color: Black; Red; White "Fascinatin' Vamp," a piece of sheet music written by Joseph Nussbaum with cover art by Ray Parmeles and published by the Sam Fox Publishing Company, 1928. The title of the piece is at the top of the front cover in red letters. Below this is a cartoon image of a flapper with a bobbed haricut, her hands placed on her hips and at the back of her head, and standing in front of a red field, over which, at the bottom, is an image of a musical scale, indicating the notation as constituting a vamp. At the right side is the phrase "A / Vamping / Episode / for the Piano / by / Joseph / Nussbaum." The illustrator's name is at the lower left. At the bottom is the logo, name, and places of business of the publisher. On the back cover is an advertisement for another piano novelty, "Polly" with a sample of the score. Throughout the front cover are pencil and pen inscriptions of a previous owner. With creases on the cover; dents at the top right corner of the front; overall cover surface soiling; stains on the inside and cover, including fingerprints; and tears along the spine, the artifact is in fair condition.
