FINISH LINE AT TRACK MEET, PROBABLY INVOLVING THE UNIVERSITY OF SANTA CLARA
Color: Black; White
A photograph of a finish of a sprinting event at a track meet, probably involving the University of Santa Clara, ca. 1925. Taken from just beyond the finish line, the image shows three runners approaching the tape, with the runner in the right lane, finishing first, the sprinter in the middle lane as runner-up, and the runner in the left lane finishing third. Men in dark suits hold the tape at either end of the track, and there are many spectators on both sides, some of them on the right are standing behind steeples used in other field events. In the background are a white fence, some buildings, and trees. On the reverse is a pencil inscription reading "18," at the lower right. In good condition overall, the item has minor surface soiling on the reverse, bowing of the paper, and dented corners.
