Description
FIRST MAIL SERVICE BY ELECTRIC STREETCAR, TEMPLE CITY, 1924
Color: Black and white
A postcard with a black and white photograph of the first delivery of mail to Temple City by the Pacific Electric Railway Company streetcar, 1924. A portion of the forward car is seen with a man in a suit at the top of the steps; a conductor on the bottom step holding the top of a dark mailbag; and George H. Woodruff, official of the Temple Townsite Company, on the street below the car holding part of the bag. At the far right is the corner of the Temple Pharmacy building at the northwest corner of Sunset Blvd. (now Temple City Blvd.) and Main Street (now Las Tunas Dr.), the latter being the street along which the streetcar came from Alhambra. Though slightly curled, the postcard, issued by the Temple City Historical Society, is otherwise undamaged and in mint condition.
