Description

PHOTOGRAPH, FLOAT OF THE KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS, ELKS PARADE, LOS ANGELES, July 1921. The image shows the float being driven down Broadway near Fifth Street and the float has a floral tiger and is generally bedecked with flowers. In the background are crowds along the street, business buildings, including Grauman's Theater at the far right, decorated with Elks banners and American flags, and, at the far right, a car ahead of the float. A pencil inscription on the reverse reads "K of P float / in / floral parade / suppose [sic]/ to be big / yellow / tiger." Near this is the date "July 1921." Other than a portion of a mounting corner at the upper left, corner creases and slight soiling, the condition is good.
