Description

PHOTOGRAPH, FLOAT OF THE MOTHER LODGE #1, NEW YORK, ELKS PARADE, LOS ANGELES, July 1921. The image shows the float being driven down Broadway near Fifth Street and the float has a large floral show, the name of the lodge, and a logo with city name on it. In the background are crowds along the street, business buildings, including Grauman's Theater at the far right, decorated with Elks banners and American flags. A pencil inscription on the reverse reads "N. York float in Big parade" and in a different hand, "B.P.O.E. Parade / Los Angeles / July 1921." Other than slight exposure to the top, corner creases and slight soiling, the condition is good.
