Description

FOREST OF OIL DERRICKS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA OIL FIELD Color: Black; White A photograph of three men stnading near a forest of oil derricks in a southern California field, 1920s. The image shows the three men standing at the far right on a dirt berm next to a dirt road, which is in the foreground. Next to the men is some wood fencing. In the background, at a lower elevation than the foreground, is a forest of dozens and dozens of oil derricks, although a hazy atmosphere prevents a clear view of how far back the derricks reach. At the upper left of the reverse is a penciled number "4." There are six other photographs of oil fields in this accession. With soiling, creases, residue of mounting corners, stains, and fingerprints marks, the general condition is good. Number-Units: 1
