Description

"Fountian [sic] in Plaza," Los Angeles, Thomas E. Stanton, ca. 1880s. Taken from the northeastern portion of the historic center of Spanish and Mexican-era Los Angeles, the view takes in walks, lanws, trees and shrubs, as well as the iron fence at the center of the park, within which is the fountain. In the distance is a multi-story commercial structure, the Plaza House, built in 1883. On the reverse is a stamp from John Meister, a book dealer, stationer and confectioner on Spring Street. With soiling, stains, abrasions, and a piece missing from the matte at the bottom, the overall condition is fair.
