Description

Color: Black; White A black and white reproduction portrait photograph of Francis W. Temple, ca. 1870. Temple, dressed in a dark three-piece suit with wide lapel and velet trimming on the coat; a vest partially unbuttoned and from which hangs a watch chain or fob; white shirt; dark tie; and dark trousers and shoes, stands leaning against a table with his right arm, while his left hand is at his hip and his right leg crossed over his left. To the left is an animal skin and an elaborately decorated table with a statue of a man and a woman on it. Behind this small stand is drapery or paper, while there appears to be a background screen with a faint pattern. Temple was the second child of Antonia Margarita Workman and F. P. F. Temple and owned the Homestead from 1876 until his death in 1888. With little indication, other than a possible stain or flaw in processing at the left edge, the object is in good condition.
