Description

FRANK ROMERO AND PRINCE NEAR THE WATER TOWER, CA. 1927 Color: Black; White A black and white negative of Frank Romero and Prince near the Water Tower at the Workman Homestead, ca. 1927. Romero is at right, kneeling on his left knee. He wears a cap, white collared shirt, and cuffed slacks. Both of his arms are extended around Prince, the Temple family's German Shepherd. The dog is up on his hind legs with both forelegs over Frank Romero's arms. He has a black snout; pointed ears; dark fur along his back; light fur on his legs and face; and appears to be panting. They are both on a fine gravel or sand-covered driveway. In the background left is the southeast side of the Water Tower. A four-paned window is on the second floor of the east wall, and the semicircular doorway is on the bottom of the first floor with two palm trees on either side. The structure is behind a wire fence, lined with ivy and bushes, which also encloses other trees located on the far right. The negative, with a corresponding print in 99.5.7.173, is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
