Color: Black; White
A black and white copy negative of the Fred Braun blacksmith shop, Puente, ca. 1920s. The large wooden barn-like building is at center, has a dormer at the center roof line, doors open, and a sign over the entrance reading, "General Blacksmithing/Practical (All Work Garant.)/Horsshoeing [sic]/Fred Braun." A large horseshoe sign hangs at the right corner gable. In the foreground are six men. The man in center wearing the suit is George Cross. To his right in shirt and bow-tie is Bernardo Rowland. The man in back with his arm on window is Ed McCaige (Rowland's business partner in a strawberry ranch.) At extreme left background can be seen part of the Rowland Hotel (and a water tank), so the location of the shop may have been on First Street south of Main. At right background are some hills, possibly today's Industry Hills. Part of a car is also seen at extreme right. As a newly created negative of print 96.49.1.6, the artifact is in mint condition.
