Description

FRONT ENTRANCE AND SENTINEL PALM, EL CAMPO SANTO Color: Brown; Green; White A black and white reproduction photograph of the entrance to El Campo Santo and the sentinel palm in the front of the cemetery, 1966. Taken just southwest of the entrance the lower part of the palm is at center around which is a heart-shaped lawn raised from a sidewal by a few inches. Behind the tree is the original brick wall of the cemetery with the original cast-iron entrance gate in the middle. Along much of the wall are shrubs and bushes, while trees are notable within the cemetery. A portion of the front elevation of the Walter P. Temple Memorial Mausoleum is visible at the center behind the entrance gate, as well. The photo was taken on a visit by Edith Temple Stanton and Loretta Berner, who probably labeled on the back in blue ink "Gateway / 1966." With no discernible damage or wear, the photo is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
