Description

FRONT ENTRANCE TO THE WORKMAN HOUSE DURING PLASTER STRIPPING Color: Brown; White A color polaroid photograph of the Workman House front door area, 15 August 1978. At the center is the door and frame, which are white, possibly from primer. To the right is a portion of the window just west of the door, the frame of which is also white. Around the door and window are sections of the exterior wall, including, around the door, portions of the modern cream-colored plaster, and the rest of which are remnants of the original simulated granite-block plasterwork. These latter areas have been gouged in preparation for the restoration of the wall to the granite look of the original. Resting against the wall between the door and window is a curved window panel with a green-painted wood frame and clear glass. On the reverse is an ink inscription reading "Workman Residence / North porch at Main / door prior to restora- / tion showing as found / decorative plaster (simu- / lating grante blocks). / photo by archt 8/15/78." Beneath this is a stamp for restoration architect Raymond Girvigian with his name, address, and phone number, over which is a piece of tape. There seems to be little evidence of wear or damage to the artifact, which is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
